Rebuilding continues in Valesa’s adopted Moroccan Village

As you may already know, Valesa adopted the small Moroccan village of Tiniskt (population 300+), located in the High Atlas Mountains about 50 miles outside of Marrakech. In September 2023, a devastating earthquake hit the region, destroying homes and claiming lives. Since then,  Valesa has been working with this Berber village, happy to give back after our 15 years working in Morocco.

The quake hit the hardest in these rural mountain villages, where the homes are made from wood, rock and mud. Valesa team decided to donate 2% of proceeds from companywide profits throughout 2024 to the wonderful, hospitable people of Tiniskt. We believe in responsible tourism and we know that every bit helps.

Our financial assistance is direct and trustworthy, with no money lost to intermediaries. We are in direct contact with the locals, and it brings us peace of mind to know that the proceeds are going immediately to the rebuilding and rehabilitation process. With this month’s donation, they have begun two important projects in the town: a 27-ton capacity water tank to provide enough fresh drinking water for all residents, and a public restroom. It brings us so much joy to see the fruits of our contributions!

Check out the photos to see the new buildings and essential services being built for the community! You can also see us along with our friends from Tiniskt during our recent trip to Morocco.

By working with Valesa, you’re helping us to create change and assist others in need. Thank you for your support!
