Hidden Seville

If you’re travelling to Seville (capital of Andalucia), surely the stunning monuments of Cathedral and the Royal Alcazar are on your itinerary. These are emblems of the city and we always recommend a visit, nevertheless there are many other unique places to see and special experiences to arrange. Here are a few suggestions for a new perspective on Seville:

Casa de Pilatos –this 16th C palace is the residence of the Dukes of Medinaceli and it showcases Gothic, Mudéjar and Italian Renaissance architectural styles, while the interior contains dazzling ceilings, paintings, woodwork and colorful tiles. The gardens make this place feel like a hidden oasis.

Palacio de Las Dueñas – currently belonging to the noble House of Alba, this 15th C palace boasts an abundance of courtyards, gardens, stables, chapels, and reception rooms. The highlight is the collection of more than 1,400 works of art, including sculptures, tapestries, furniture and paintings.

For a uniquely Spanish experience, make sure to stop at a local convent where they sell sweets made by the nuns to finance their frugal way of life. To order, you must go to the small window and sometimes order blindly through cloistered nuns.

Finally, the humble Triana neighborhood is full of vibrant life, history and charm. Located just across the Guadalquivir River, its colorful homes and cheerful bars create a truly authentic atmosphere. Visit the Triana market where you can find an abundance of local food products or wander the streets and see the hand-painted ceramics in the shops.
